This 1-1/4 inch die-struck medal is bordered with a method of scalloping that is identical in appearance to diamond cut engraving. It comes in multiple colors and can be engraved or imprinted only on the back face, due to the front face being adorned with a design illustrating a large open book with two people sitting and reading back-to-back in front of it. Above the book is a globe and lamp, and 'Reading Award' is inscribed along the top border of the medal. This medal is available in gold, silver, or bronze.
